Fear Escape by Three Convicts from Great Train Robbery
Three of the British train robbery convicts, serving 20 years, refuse to use their cell yard since October, claiming the 40 by 30 foot space is too small. They seek a larger yard adjacent to Durham Jail but prison authorities deny the request over escape risk. Two others among the 12 jailed for the 1963 $7.2 million robbery have escaped.
