Telephone Company Seeks Small Rate Increase

The company cites rising costs from wage and material increases since 1950 and 1953 payroll and tax rises to justify a small rate raise. They note 23.7 million dollars of new plant since the war and plan 5.3 million more next year to meet demand. New rates would lift residence charges by 2 6 to 4 cents daily and business by 6 to 8 cents daily, aiming for a 15.7 percent revenue boost.
