The meeting was attended by Milon Brown, Mrs E C Barnes, John W Lambing, Dr G W Bennett and I B Patterson.
United Press reports Philadelphia December 31 Lewis G Hines American Federation of Labor says organized labor is dissatisfied and disappointed by the appointment of Edward N Jones of Pittsburgh as secretary of labor and industry in Governor elect George H Earle s cabinet He calls the choice a slap in the face and says labor sought recognition and Jones has no qualifications for the post He cites about 1000 labor leaders statewide as backing his view.
Harrisburg awaits the 31st regular session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly under a Democratic governor for the first time in 40 years. Lawmakers face tasks including raising up to 200.4 million dollars, revising the constitution, labor reforms, pensions, unemployment insurance, banking laws, and more over the five month session. London dispatch reports Gregory Zinoviev and Len Kamenev, leading Communist figures, banished to Solovetski Island in the White Sea after a secret trial presided over by Josef Stalin. They were handcuffed and transported by special freight train. The Solovetski camp lies near the Gulf of Onega.
