Corry High Sports Year Highlights and Prospects
A look back at 1944 in Corry High athletics notes a strong year across football baseball basketball bowling golf and women's leagues. Beavers football under Coach Tinson showed improvement with 5 wins in 18 games and 19 of 23 lettermen returning for 1945. Corry basketball posted a 10-9-1 record with Stretch McKinney and George Fox boosting the squad as it eyes Erie County League contention. Baseball resumed at the high school, Beavers won 11 of 12 in spring, and wartime shortages spurred local development with Pirates School and semi pro links. Golf and bowling flourished, women leagues sustain interest, and the Beavers’ baseball talent feeds independent teams as 1945 approaches.
