Brokers cited profit-taking linked to the new lower 1954 income tax rates, noting sales now settle for delivery in the New Year. American Can, American T and T, Allied Refining, Bethlehem Steel and other issues showed drops, while corporate bonds stayed steady and government issues rose in the over the counter market.
