Uwartiloton Dec 28 Navy department announced the capture of a German submarine crew by American destroyers Hasniling and Niehohsen. Two American sailors jumped aboard and rescued two men from the Teton. Four officers and 58 of the submarine's crew were captured and imprisoned. The Germans opened valves before surrendering and the captives were landed in port after aboard days of care.

United Press dispatch from Washington reports Turkish divisions advancing to drive British from the Holy Land. Reinforcements from German and Austrian regiments arrived from the Russian front. Allenby notes Turkish attacks between Jaffa and Jerusalem Dec 26 27 28 were repulsed with heavy enemy losses and a counterattack yielded approximately two and a half rifles on a front of nine miles.

The annual NT tall was omitted this year due to conditions, a loss felt by local social circles. A number of out of town guests attended and the event, though simpler than last year, was enjoyed by all present.
