Insurance Dept seeks to force auto insurers to return profits
Harrisburg proposes a bill to require auto insurers to refund excess profits gained from energy shortages. Commissioner Herbert Denenberg says motorists could face 40 to 50 percent overcharges without reform and that fines up to 500 dollars per policy could be imposed if companies refuse. He rejects a flat 10 percent across the board rate cut as impractical.
