FBI Admits To Another Bugging Case
The Justice Department disclosed another instance of FBI electronic eavesdropping in the Taglianetti tax case. It reported a 1962 microphone at a close associate’s business overhearing conversations, while denying any evidence used in the trial came from the bugging. Taglianetti, of Warwick, Rhode Island, was convicted in 1958 tax evasion and sentenced to three years in prison and a $3,000 fine. The admission follows a broader review ordered by the DOJ of cases involving electronic surveillance.
