PAA Fights Auto Trade-in Tax Proposal In Harrisburg
The Automotive Association vows to oppose Gov Teatre's tax study panel recommendation to levy a 3 percent sales tax on the total cost of a new car, including the trade-in value. Parkison says the plan hits low income motorists who rely on vehicles for livelihoods and would amount to double taxation. The group cites highway funding already paid by motorists and argues removing exemptions would raise the tax on many buyers, affecting 34,000 or more transactions.
