Repeal sought on color margarine rules in Pa legislature
Pennsylvania women’s committee pressed for repeal of the colored margarine ban with a 2.5 million housewives mobilization for the 1951 legislature. Leaders include Mrs Helen M Schluraff and others of Harrisburg and Wayne. The push cites 1885 and 1949 laws and new federal changes easing interstate sales while noting opposition from farm groups and agriculture committees. In Greensburg a burglar stole from the Summer Volunteer Firemen’s Club, prompting state police to investigate a loss of 3,000 to 2,200 dollars.

January Milk Price Set At 5 78 For New York Area
The fluid milk price for the New York metropolitan marketing area is set at 5.78 per hundredweight for January, with December at 5.81 and January 1950 at 4.80. The Dairy Market Administrator notes farmers are not paid Class 1 A price directly. Handlers pay the price to the New York pool for the milk they use in that category. The uniform price is adjusted by a formula and reflects milk produced at licensed plants in the New York area.
