Army Says Erie Soldier Not Set For Leave
The Army announced Sgt. Gerald J. Szoszorek of Erie was due to rotate home January 4, 1969, ending a one year Vietnam tour. He was killed December 17, 1968, after his request for a six month extension in Vietnam was disapproved and he would have begun a 30 day United States leave only if granted. The Army cited a policy permitting exemptions when another family member is serving nearby.

Deaths Mrs Frodelius 91 Sugar Grove widow teacher
Mrs Frodelius 91 of Sugar Grove died in Jamestown General Hospital after being struck by a car on December 1. She was born in Sugar Grove and taught school for many years. Surviving are two stepdaughters and other relatives. Burial at Cherry Hill Cemetery Sugar Grove. visitation at the funeral home tomorrow.

View of Apollo 8 Moon Orbit Televized from Denver
Apollo 8 will be observed skimming the moon from Denver's Gates Planetarium via NBC cameras through a planetarium telescope. If skies stay clear and focus succeeds, viewers may see the spacecraft 75 to 196 miles above the moon for about six minutes at 6:44 p.m. 8:42 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
