Jamestown on December 22 faced a sudden power failure as a boiler room explosion filled the area with steam and smoke. A pipeline leak sent excess water to boilers, triggering fires and a mismanaged exhaust that shut down all machinery and forced the large turbine offline.
Jamestown police Officer Clarence Turner faces formal charges after suspension over the alleged robbery of a Lovejoy Syndicate show case on West Third Street. Turner's arrest followed a warrant alleging forgery of two notes to the Swedish American Bank, one for 45 dollars and another for 35 dollars, presented December 7.
Yesterday afternoon Officer Oscar Nelson arrested John Manaron after a warrant was sworn. Manaron was brought to the station and held in custody. A morning hearing before Judge Mabaron is expected, with District Attorney Warner handling the case.
Rexford, who yesterday swore out the warrant on depositions taken by bin, said the arrest was made upon the paper note at the bank. The note originated months ago and its renewal followed the original issuance.
