Pittsburgh Teachers Picket For Recognition
About 20 members of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers picketed Arsenal Elementary School in Lawrenceville protesting what the union called intimidation by Principal Elsie Reis. Federation President Joseph F. Zunic said the principal refused to meet with representatives to discuss federation role and recruitment practices.

Meningitis Claims Second Victim In Week
Luther Shorter Jr an 18 year old South High School student died of meningitis at South Side Hospital. It was the second meningitis death in Youngstown within a week and coroner Dr David Belinsky urged contacts to seek preventive medication. His mother said he fell ill after a slight cold Sunday and was rushed to the hospital. Last week another Leffingwell Road youth died of meningitis.

Face Prison In Failure To Show For Draft
Two men, Calvin H. Snell and David B. Snyder, both 22, were sentenced to four years in prison for failing to report to Selective Service boards. They claimed Jehovah's Witness minister status exempting them from the draft. Judge Louis Rosenberg said parole could be possible if they enter armed service as conscientious objectors or take a civilian job approved by the military.
