Milk price proposal set for Rochester three months

Albany December 20 The State Agriculture Department proposed a milk price of 6.80 per 100 pounds for the Rochester marketing area for the first quarter of 1948. It would preserve the current 5.80 per hundred pounds for Class 1 fluid milk and 4.30 for Class 2-A full cream, pending three months of operation and April review. Producers who testified December 11 said costs prevent a price cut now and will decide by December 22 whether to approve. A hearing on Buffalo area prices is scheduled for December 26.
