On December 20 at Woods End Cape Cod divers and salvage ships prepared to free the trapped S-4 crew after torpedo room flooding. Doylestown Pa December 20 Miss Mary Graser 18 confessed her prior offer to marry anyone presenting $10 000 aimed at luring back a missing boyfriend. She said she went to Brooklyn to wed him but he did not appear and she burned the letters from suitors.
Court in Cincinnati reports Judge Chester R. Shook blocked a full acquittal. He states the only verdict favorable to Remus would be not guilty on grounds of insanity, potentially sending him to probate for a sanity hearing before release.
Members of the Corry Motor Club urged City Council to limit thru streets to North Center Street from Columbus Avenue to Smith Street and Smith Street to the city line. The club favored automatic signal lights at main intersections and asked for a ban on chains with solid tires and for cleat tires on tractors per state law. With peak Christmas shopping, all city stores adopt usual evening hours to accommodate patrons. Stores remain open evenings through Saturday night, offering shoppers extra time to complete purchases.
Steady improvement is reported in the condition of Tda Beebe, an over year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Beebe of Union City, who was seriously injured when struck by an automobile near her home in the first week. The little child is a patient in Corry hospital and is reported to be getting along nicely.
