Police conducted a raid targeting a suspected property associated with illegal activity. Authorities did not disclose names or locations. No injuries were reported, and investigators collected evidence for a formal review.
Commissioner Coll of the Erie Railroad met in the city with Concord Township farmers who sold land for a new right of way. About twenty thousand dollars was distributed to farmers and other property owners in Concord Township and surrounding areas.
The Warren National Bank advertises a 4 percent interest rate in its Interest Department. Deposits made within the first three days of any month earn interest from the first of the month, and half a month's interest is paid on deposits before the fifteenth. Survivors of the suffragette army arrive amid snow and darkness after a 24 mile day march over mud slick roads. General Jones, exhausted from blisters, barely recovered and carried into a hotel, boots still on. Boots were rubber and heavy, others followed pace to Peekskill and Garrison. The group retired for the night then attended a dinner marking local celebrations.
City schools close this afternoon for the regular holiday vacation with Christmas programs in every department. Ward schools hold morning sessions and the High School presents a multi class program with recitations, DapoFd, and other numbers. Visitors fill rooms as holiday events promise to provide joyful gatherings and games at various institutes.
London reports a large gathering at Westminster Abbey for Whitelaw Reid's memorial service held at noon attended by Prince Arthur of Connaught and other dignitaries including representatives of King George and Queen Mary. Later the diplomat's body traveled to Portsmouth with a military escort for shipment aboard the cruiser Natal bound for the United States.
