A fresh forty-eight foot trench collapse along Route 20 near Latrobe yesterday killed two workers, Edward Solkasky 39 of Blairsville and Tony Del Isignore 38 of Boswell, Somerset County, and injured another, Robert B. Jones 40 of Latrobe, who is in serious condition. Latrobe Construction Co employees were laying a 24 inch drainage pipe for a new four lane project between Greensburg and Ligonier. An inquest will be held into the deaths.
Corry's Rogers Structural Steel Co marks its 50th anniversary this year. annual production now runs 3 000 to 4 000 tons. The plant on Bugle Street fabricates steel for bridges and large buildings and has supplied Rex Theatre Corry Jamestown Metnnes Steel the Raymond plant Aero Supply plus Eve's Wee Grant Company Store Hillmat Hospital and Hammermill Paper Co. The local plant also furnished steel for National Forge and Ordnance In Tevine and Warren Site Hospital.
An eight member Corry delegation pressed Hele County Commissioners for 4500 dollars to support city planning. The meeting followed by notes of county support for the downtown Erie Plan with 28000 from the county. County fears and requests for consideration were voiced by several commissioners as city representatives and officials advocated backing the program.
