Seven area residents were hospitalized after ice and snow caused multi-vehicle crashes. Timothy Stockton, 21, of Spartansburg, lost control on Route 426 and hit a bridge abutment, injuring him and causing $450 vehicle damage. Three minor traffic crashes were reported yesterday on icy streets. Gregory J. Stachara, 25, of Madison Heights Michigan, swerved to avoid a jackknifing tractor trailer on East Columbus Avenue and struck a utility pole. A second collision at North Center and Elk Streets totaled about $250 in damage to Carol Ann Gneadinger and Jeffrey A. Bemis’s cars. A parked car was hit when Jeffrey M. Robinson, 17, turned from West Congress and slid into a Meisher vehicle. total damage about $160. All injuries were not reported.
