Few changes expected in Co appointments
County officials anticipate minimal alterations in county appointments for 1931 with reappointments rather than new selections. Earl H. Williams of Union City may be renamed county sealer of weights and measures while Mrs. Helen Patterson remains matron of the Detention Home for another year and Matt Hess is slated for reappointment as warden. Major W. H. Suppley, the county engineer, was originally slated to serve until year’s end, and illness of Mr. Mclean may delay action, possibly postponing final appointments to February or later.

County Against Bond Issues During 1931
Erie county officials deny plans for bond issues in 1931 to fund road construction. Commissioners Rogan and Davis say the county will rely on state or federal highways only if funded, with others in Western Pennsylvania pursuing federal aid unlikely to succeed. The group doubts federal authority to grant county road assistance.
