FTC Questions Claims Made In Auto Ads
The FTC ordered 12 car makers to substantiate more than 100 claims used in 1972 and 1973 ads, with 60 days to submit proof. No accusation of false advertising was made. public documentation will follow. Firms include American Motors, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Renault, Volvo, Toyota, Volkswagen, Saab-Scania, Fiat-Roosevelt, British Leyland, and Subaru.
