Auditor General G Harold Wagner approves payment of 4182960 88 to 02 of 67 counties. Erie County to get 105201 16 as its share of six month Liquid Fuels Tax collected June 1 1948 to December 1 1946. Funds go to county Liquid Fuels Tax Fund for road and bridge improvements and related costs. Other counties listed with allocations including Crane.
The United States Employment Service reports about 11.29 million of roughly 12.81 million World War II veterans are in the civilian labor force, with 10.46 million employed. Census figures show 740,000 veterans in school, 180,000 retired or unable to work, and 600,000 not yet in the civilian labor force.
The servicemen's readjustment allowances have fallen from 1,400,000 in time to 1,250,000. The decline is linked to veterans returning to school and many finding employment, reducing the need for benefits.
