Fire destroys store on First Avenue in morning blaze

An explosion at about 1:30 this morning gutted the two story grocery building owned by Bracken Brothers at 117 First Avenue. Culmerville Man Admits Firing Fatal Deer Side Kill

Harry Fennell 42 of Culmerville Pa admits firing the shot that killed Kane businessman Arthur Carlson as he stood over a deer he had shot during the opening of the antlerless season. State police traced the abandoned gun to Fennell and he was arrested for possible manslaughter and hunting license revocation. He was to be taken to Tioga for possible prosecution.

French pianist fired on by Wabash police

Daniel Erigourt French pianist and instructor at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music demanded a police inquiry after two Wabash officers fired on him as he walked along a street. The New York Daily Mirror reports Bruno Hauptmann may use a defendant’s new claim by the principal eyewitness that he was legally blind.
