Help the YMCA couple of Y's Guys Tom Crage Jr. and Charles Bracken Jr. set up in the lobby of the National Bank yesterday to raise eight hundred dollars for YMCA swimming team sponsorship. Corry State Police arrested Donald J. Huffman of 1345 West Main Street yesterday for malicious mischief after he was seen leaving an abandoned house near Elgin with a bundle of his belongings. Huffman admitted entering the house by breaking a window and lock. he was bound over to Justice Floyd Marsh and pled guilty, ordered to pay $5 restitution, a $5 fine, and $11 costs, before release. The building is owned by Emmett Cronin of Goffs, Wova.
A ninth victim was found at a scorched wreckage site after a Flying Tiger Lines cargo plane missed a runway and plunged into a San Fernando Valley neighborhood near Burbank. Five men and four women died, with two teenage girls among the victims. Firemen probed the blazing ruins as investigators from the Civil Aeronautics Board opened an inquiry. The plane, seen low over Laurel Canyon Boulevard, carried cargo including Christmas toys from Boston and had one passenger hitching a ride.

Corry State Police said a motorist fell asleep at the wheel and collided head on with another vehicle near Union City. James Robison of Erie, 32, suffered head and facial lacerations. Roman J. Bern, Union City, was driving the second car. Robison was northbound and drifted left after looping on a left curve. Total damage estimated at 2200. Charges pending. A second crash near Spartansburg involved Charles Hull, 18, Townville, who overracted to pass and ran onto the berm. he was not hurt and auto damage put at 150.
A fire on the second floor of a converted Gettysburg College women’s dormitory caused no injuries. The Gettysburg Fire Co. reported the alarm at 7:29 am in a two story building used as housing, with ten rooms on the second floor.
