RENT DIRECTOR EXPLAINS HOUSING LEASES TO END OF 1949
Rent Director Frank Anderson explains what happens to occupancy under the 1947 Housing and Rent Act as leases expire December 3. He says units covered by such leases revert to rent control and retain debts and rules from prior units, with maximum rents tied to those now in effect. Leases under the 1988 Act may be extended only if voluntary, in writing, run through December 31, 1949, and filed with the Rent Office within 15 days of execution.
