Track Workers Narrow Escape From Landslide Near Titusville
Six track workers on the Philadelphia and Western division faced a near catastrophe when a massive boulder, 40 by 12 feet, loosened by heavy rains and a late freeze slid toward the tracks at midmorning. The rock toppled from a hill, damaged rails, and plunged into the creek as the men, stationed in a nearby watch box, narrowly avoided being buried or seriously hurt. If the slide had occurred minutes later, lives would have been lost.
