Erie County will not fund construction work in 1931
Erie County will be unable to undertake road or building projects in 1931 due to a lack of funds. County controller Harvey M. Willis outlined a tight budget prioritizing general expenses, bond sinking fund, and retirement of obligations, including a $50,000 deficit. He warned the county may face its worst year in 1932 unless commissioners cut extravagances and cooperate. About $450,000 from the state will be used for road work, but $115,000 earmarked for West 6th Street must go to the bond sinking fund.
