Man Seriously Hurt West Of City In Erie Route 6 Crash
Erie man James Dougherty, 73, of West 26th Street, was seriously injured last night west of Corry while adjusting a tire on his car. He suffered a fractured right leg and other bruises after being struck between two vehicles as Willer Fields of York Street tried to pass the halted car. Dougherty was taken to Corry Hospital and then to Erie for specialized surgical care. State Police said the strike occurred as Fields attempted to pass. Dougherty’s car was crushed against its side. A second vehicle narrowly avoided striking Dougherty and his vehicle on the highway.
