An Erie widow, Mrs. Kathryn Siateas, sued in United States district court in Chicago alleging she was defrauded of 120000 in cash and securities by Harry and Fred Winston of Chicago. The plaintiffs say the loss was from her husband Langley Lucas's estate, president of the Austin Lucas Paint Co. after his death August 1, 1927. Fred Winston is a real estate operator and his brother a former advertising man.
Proceeds from a card party arranged at St Edward's hall on Wednesday evening will benefit the Knights of Columbus Athletics Association. The event funds a winter sports program with bridge and five games. The public is invited, awards will be given to winners, and light refreshments served.
United Press report from Aliquippa Pa describes Anna Jacobs 45 found unconscious from burns at her home hours before a trial on charges of shooting her daughter in Beaver County. She was taken to Rochester hospital for treatment.
Walter Clyde Davis a 50 year old Cotorao banker and president of the Colorado Springs Building and Loan Association died by hanging in his police cell while awaiting extradition on charges of embezzling from the association. Detectives had located his photo in a report and Davis, living at 9 Gramercy Park, had previously spoken of restitution. No note was found.
