Hear appeal of Halverson in Swanson case

Assistant District Attorney Mortimer Graham announced that arguments on Fred Halverson’s petition for a new trial in the death of state highway patrolman Russell J. Swanson will be heard next week. Halverson was convicted of manslaughter and contends the evidence and charge warranted freedom. It is unlikely the court would grant a new trial here, as Halverson faces other Minneapolis charges and would likely be returned there if granted.
