State Needs 100000 New Farm Workers

Philadelphia December 1 The Department of Civilian Services and Labor of the State Committee of Public Safety says Pennsylvania needs from 25,000 to 50,000 workers for war industries and 100,000 for farming immediately. An army of workers is required to sustain shipbuilding crops and drought relief with women operating towers and lower gangs. Overall Keystone State may require about 160,000 workers to plant, harvest, and aid crop storage as farm labor shortages waste corn and potatoes.
