An involuntary manslaughter charge is filed against Richard Nemenz 28 for a Peach Street crash that killed 17 year old Philip Weyer and injured five others. Santa Ana California actress Dorothy Lamour testified that Kay Willems appeared semi conscious with a forehead gash as she lay in bed. The testimony describes a beating alleged by Kay Williams against her former husband sugar heir Adolph Spreckels TE, on trial for assault. Lamour said she and Willian R. Howard took Williams to a hospital where she stayed ten days. Other witnesses testified Williams was intoxicated the night before the alleged beating at Spreckels Balboa Island home. A separate witness said Williams was intoxicated. The case was recessed until Monday.

Woman Admits Brutal Slaying in Newark Case
Mrs. Henry Leibel confessed to the ax slaying of her arthritic sister-in-law Hattie Bobker after a 12 hour interrogation. The 49 year old mother of four said she struck first only after Bobker hit her with the weapon following an argument at their shared home. The case began when Leibel summoned aid for Bobker and fainted when the body was found. The scene and motive are described by Police Chief Hugh O’Gorman.
