A severe early morning blaze devastated Anchor Line Grain Elevators and nearby lake front property in Erie. Hundreds of thousands of bushels of grain destined for rail shipment were destroyed. Harbor shipping faced danger as county fire equipment proved powerless to prevent the heavy losses.
