Corry Elks lodge in Winter Park announces a large February Winter Fair to open their new North Center street hall. A minstrel show and inter lodge performances are planned with visitors from nearby towns, dancing, and varied entertainment across the building’s floors.
In Warren Pennsylvania on December 8 9 the jury returned not guilty verdicts in the Button case while costs were divided between defendants and the plaintiff Mrs May Taylor. Separate trials include Dan Hanmore found not guilty of assault and battery and Harry Lovine awaiting trial on larceny charges with Charles Morin testifying for the Buffalo police investigation.
Chief William F. Detzel’s detectives arrested Harry and Jud Hogan in Cleveland on suspicion of robbing Simon Cohen’s jewelry store at 1130 State Street on November 28. County Detective Frank H.Watson to escort prisoners back to Erie. officers traced the crime to Cleveland residents.
A man registered as Samuel F. Hain of New York committed suicide in the Hotel Everett in Jamestown on a Thursday night. Found in Room 1 around 11am by a chambermaid, he had a pistol and a fatal wound to the temple. Money and letters were on the table. relatives were notified. Police and the coroner took charge. The body carried about $200 and several diamonds.

In Sweyerville borough Wilkes Bar re a man named Copak hired boys for a penny each to pelt the house of neighbor Lavely with eggs. The attack lasted an hour and covered the property in odor and mess. Copak and 11 boys were arrested charged with trespass. Copak fined 760 dollars and cents and sentenced to ten days in jail. the boys were reprimanded.
The body of J Henry Cochran of Pennsylvania was embalmed aboard a train from Baltimore to Williamsport. Embalmers worked in an extra baggage car as the train pulled out, after transport from Rosegill Virginia where he died. Cochran was a notable Pennsylvania Democrat ally and supporter of Cleveland era leadership.
Corry dominated Union City High School 82 to 6 in a chaotic game filled with ragged scoring and quick passes. Key performers included Jowdee with seven baskets and Cowles with ten, while Lyons and Marsh contributed on offense as Corry’s defense blocked several passes. Union City showed grit but were overmatched as the home team pulled away early and maintained a wide margin.
Rescue workers recovered remains after a flood int the area near Austin. Miss Mary Decker of Coudersport identified belongings found with one victim. Funeral services were set for Thanksgiving Day as workers continued digging near the mess tent site.
Reports describe a bold gang operating along Conewango Creek between Warren and Frewsburg. Numerous cottages were entered and items valued in the hundreds of dollars were stolen. In Edgewater area cottages listed include H. Schwing Wd Walt Elmer Walter Ghikt Theine C. Barnhart and S. H. Waller. A reward is offered for thief apprehension.
