Erie youth Hoke tied to death attempt in prison cell
Samuel E. Hoke a 7 year old beautician sentenced for an August crime spree nearly self killed with razor wounds in the Erie County Prison. He was found bleeding in his cell after slashing his arms and neck and was rushed to Hamot Hospital in serious condition. He had a prior spree including shooting at a police officer, armed robbery and a hurried pursuit by police. he was sentenced to three to eight years in the Western Penitentiary by Judge Elmer Evans.
