Pa Legislature Returns To Tackle School Funding Impasse
Pennsylvania lawmakers return to face an impasse over subsidies and tax plans. The administration opposes proposed increases while taxes may be tapped only modestly. Key figures push for revenue estimates and a stock and bond tax, but Senate resistance blocks passage. The week also covers gas tax, borrowing authority, and a statewide air pollution program stalled by political maneuvering.

Lake Erie eyed as water source for Westfield
The Westfield Village Board and Board of Public Utilities plan a joint meeting tomorrow to consider using Lake Erie as a water source. Current supply relies on Chautauqua Creek and Minton reservoir, with peak daily use around three million gallons for six processing plants. A 1-inch main beneath the New York State Thruway allows potential lake connections, though cost estimates and funding options remain unresolved.
