State Senate approves 113 million tax package in late session

The Senate passed a 113 million tax package in a midnight session and sent it to the House for concurrence with amendments. Democrats opposed most measures, arguing the package overshoots revenue needs for Governor Pine's budget. Republicans split on two bills expanding income taxes and inheritance taxes. The House must approve 42 million in proposed cuts before the package reaches the governor, with adjournment set for late December.
