Gasoline tax receipts exceed expectations in Pennsylvania
Harrisburg reports that Pennsylvania’s five cent a gallon gasoline tax is delivering stronger than anticipated results. State Comptroller George A. Nally said total collections run near four million dollars above forecasts and the motor fund stands about five point eight million dollars ahead of schedule. He cautioned that bad winter weather could curb driving and tax take, but noted seasonal trends are built into estimates. If current pace continues the 1949 51 biennium could end with a substantial surplus, though he downplayed that scenario.
