A 16 or 17 year old Fort Wayne youth visiting the area was arrested by Union City police after a car theft spree. He allegedly stole and abandoned three cars in succession, from Corry Jamestown Plant 3 to Conneaut Ohio, then to Erie where detectives questioned him. The Firth car was recovered in Union City, with the Ohio and Conneaut cars also found. the suspect remained in Erie County prison as authorities decide charges.
President Kennedy voiced delight at Adlai Stevenson remaining as United Nations chief delegate and passing up a U S Senate bid. Stevenson said he will continue in New York after talks with Kennedy and Chicago Mayor Daley. The move surprises many who doubted full alignment with Kennedy foreign policy.
