Patman Pushes New Bonus Bill for War Vets
Kansas City December report outlines Patman plan for immediate cash payment of adjusted service certificates. He cites a program via National City Bank of New York to issue 1 million dollars in currency weekly against bonds, with banks earning interest and tax revenue. The proposal argues for replacing paper money with gold-backed securities and seeks broader support in Congress.

Old log water main found in Oil City during sewer work
Workmen digging for a new sewer along Relief and Main streets uncovered an old wooden water main likely laid around 1860 and still sound. The log pipe, about 12 inches in diameter with a six inch bore, extends from ChaneyRus at the city line to near the Genter street bridge, suggesting early city water distribution. The line dates to 1804 per city records, and officials note it could be repurposed if needed.
