Two Erie Clothing Stores Are Looted in Erie
Police hunted farmers suspected of a morning thefts across northwestern Pennsylvania after two Erie stores were robbed. The Linder Company lost 100 dresses 16 cloth coats and a fur coat while the Franke Carper store had coats stolen. Entry at the Linder shop came from a smashed front door lock. A passerby spotted an open door at 1 20 am. Police searched the area but found no suspects. At the Carpet Store a window was smashed with two large clubs and several coats were taken. The break in was not found until about 9 30 am when officers Collins and Thomas discovered the shattered window.
