An avalanche buried the Langen railroad station in the Arlberg Pass trapping 80 passengers aboard a train. After 52 hours the passengers were freed. Two circus vans with animals were buried along with toppled freight cars and three railroad workers lost.
Washington Dec 5 Frener felt Strauss of J W Seligman Banking House defended before the Interstate Commerce Commission the plan for Chesapeake and Ohio to issue stock at par to pay for Pere Marquette stock it has been authorized to buy. The commission ordered the issue at 100 dollars Strauss says this exceeded the commission authority.
London report of a noted tennis player Col. Mayes found dead today from blood poisoning. He was regarded as one of the country’s finest athletes. The poisoning appeared to originate from a wound on the face.
