Boy to be examined after mother slain near Snookville
Samuel Lavella, about 20 miles northeast, pleaded guilty to murdering his 38 year old mother Mrs Frank Lavelli in their home. District Attorney William McKnight of Jefferson County says he will seek a mental examination for the boy for possible insanity or pending trial. Lavella led police to dispose of the body in a wooded area after admitting the shotgun shooting following a reported scolding over rifle cleaning.

Ezio Pinza, 64, noted Metropolitan Opera star and Broadway performer, was stricken yesterday by his second heart attack in three months. He was placed on the danger list at Areenyich Hospital after admission. doctors call the procedure routine. Pinza planned to end his 37 year singing career this month and was to perform in A Very Special Baby before August. He suffered a heart attack at his summer home in Cervin Tratly, not far from Ravenna, and collapsed at his Stamford home dining room. He lives there with his wife and three children aged 5, 13, and 15.
