Valuable cow killed by train near Ripley, Iowa line
Jamestown dispatch reports a valuable registered cow transported to an auction died when the truck carrying it stalled on a Nickel Plate crossing two miles east of Ripley. The eastbound train struck the vehicle, flinging the box and chassis long distances. The cow, purchased by Norvel Reed of Sherman, was en route to Sherman for sale. Alfred Crossman of Sherman drove the truck. Snow-packed ruts at the crossing contributed to the accident.

Birthday Party Honor for Late Joseph DeMarte Jr
Mrs Joseph DeMarte Jr hosted a Tuesday afternoon birthday party in North Center Street from 2 30 to 6 00. It honored her late son Joseph on his first birthday with six little guests and their mothers. The hostess served sandwiches cookies birthday cake ice cream milk and coffee.
