U S officials report danger to nine Americans including Catholic and Protestant missionaries in Chihking and nearby areas as Communist forces advance. The American consul in Hankow sent an urgent telegram to the Hunan governor seeking protection for missionaries and other U S personnel stationed at Chenldi Supu and Lumpgan.
Rome dispatch reports Premier Mussolini and his cabinet focusing on internal affairs in a second two hour meeting in 72 hours. No foreign affairs topics or naval notes were in the communiqué as relations with the League of Nations dominate prior stiff positions. A planned world statement was hinted but not issued.
Dr Arthur Christie famed radiologist and medical economist and former Corry resident will be principal speaker at the Erie County Medical Society meeting. He will address county physicians on bronchiectasis at Hamot Hospital in the afternoon and present the dinner topic Medical Care for All the People at Prices They Can Afford.
Six long term inmates stormed the state prison in Boston area prompting a daylight chase along the Boston and Maine Railroad toward Somerville. A truck driver was killed and a convict slain. a second fugitive and three guards were wounded. Within two hours all escapees were recaptured, dead or alive. Louis Richards of Somerville drove the potatoes truck hijacked by the convicts and was beaten. Philip Naples of Worcester, jailed recently for robbery, was identified as the slain inmate. The incident halted by authorities after a rapid manhunt.
Railroad police investigate a $472 cash robbery of station agent Clinton Gulick at Cleveland Last Thursday. A woman who asked about the Corry bound train No 5 hours earlier is suspected of knowing the bandit’s plans. Eric railroad police checked if any local traveler rode that train while examining potential accomplice links.
Acting House Majority Leader Edward Z Taylor endorses using inflation to pay the 2.2 billion dollar soldiers bonus. The position, backed by Rep Wright Patman, faces opposition from the administration and could split House Democrats. Taylor may resign as acting leader without full caucus backing, with Rep John J O Connor seen as potential alternative.

United Press reports from London that China urged Britain to help amid escalating North China autonomy agitation. Quo Thi Chi, Chinese ambassador to Great Britain, outlined Beijing’s view during a Monday call with Foreign Secretary Sir Samuel Hoare.
Lyle C. Wilson reports from Palo Alto that Herbert Hoover has chosen a clear objective in his campaign posture. Hoover appears not to seek renomination but to shape national debate, aiming to defeat President Roosevelt next November. His approach centers on presenting political issues as he sees them.
Mike Sokalski, 50, of R. D. 4, received one year parole from Judge W. E. Hirt after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated. He was the driver in a crash that damaged Dorothy Whiteley’s Plymouth coupe near the Municipal building. Sokalski faced possible additional charges for operating the car on his son's driving permit without a license.

In St Louis the Anti Saloon League sessions of its 28th convention opened with Bishop James Cannon Jr predicting a future return to national prohibition within ten years. He attacked Andrew Mellon for enforcement failures and criticized President Roosevelt for leading repeal propaganda. He argued prohibition will return and be enforced more effectively.
Pan American Airways China Clipper landed at Wake Island at 8 58 p m after a 1560 mile flight from Guam in 18 hours 47 minutes. Captain Edwin C Musick led the crew through a driving storm and low altitude travel, sighting Wake at 1 47 a m PST and completing a safe landing with harbor lights aiding the approach.
E C House, spokesman for the Human Efficiency Research Bureau, who spoke to Corry civic clubs, is hospitalized at Memorial hospital in Wellsville New York after an auto crash. He was to address Warren civic groups on a schedule this week but is unable to attend due to injuries. Details of the accident are unavailable.
