County eyes budget raise as mills could tick up
County officials will begin work on the 1948 budget with salary increases likely. A one to two mill hike over the seven mill tax rate is possible as payroll costs of 1947 446 673 would rise about 67 000 if blanket raises of 18 percent are approved. General expenses and a larger institutional district appropriation also loom, with plans for tuberculosis hospital expansion and infirmary repairs.
