Knights of Columbus Hold Annual Degree Conferral Event

The Corry Council 425 hosted its annual Knights of Columbus convention with Second and Third Degree ceremonies for 426 visiting knights. The day featured Mass, a buffet luncheon, and an evening hall at Blute Armory attended by over 200 knights and their ladies, with officers and visiting contingents from multiple cities.

Corry High Loses First Game in Narrow Shootout

Corry High opened with a 16-9 first half lead over Silver Creek. A late surge by Silver Creek tied the score at 28-28 before Corry’s Henke and a home crowd helped secure a 28-21 lead in the closing minutes, with a final basket giving Corry the victory amid a disrupted crowd and injured spectator.

Union Thanksgiving Service Reminds Faithful of Gratitude

Last evening the Methodist church hosted a Union Thanksgiving Service with leaders from Baptist Lutheran Presbyterian and Episcopal churches presenting prayers readings and sermon. Rev G H Sharpley of the Episcopal Church preached on gratitude citing scripture and urging thanks for harvest peace and progress while noting social issues and the public good. The service concluded with song and benediction.

Stanford Hose Annual Ball Draws 400 at Armory Dance

The Twenty-fifth Annual Ball of the Stanford Hose Company was held at the State Armory on Thanksgiving Eve. The Armory saw a large crowd for both concert and dance. Gerry's volunteer firefighting organization sponsored the event with Denman Thompson Old Homestead Company providing the concert. The Male quartet and Bowers singing drew applause. Dancing began around 10:30 and continued late as the crowd enjoyed the evening.

Stanford Hose Company Ball Grows in Popularity

An immense crowd enjoyed a luncheon served by the ladies of SS. Eslivalwth's, with midnights meals giving satisfaction. Sumner Was praised for capably handling duties as the Stanford Hose Company hopes continued public support after another successful annual ball.

Municipal Club's Annual Party Highlights City Social Scene

The Municipal Club of Corry held its second annual dance at the Knights of Pythias lodge rooms. About fifty attendees enjoyed Maherty's Symphony Orchestra, dancing late into the night, with a menu featuring cocktails, cold meats, salads, ice cream, cake, coffee, candy, wafers and cigarettes. Out-of-town guests included Mrs Sloye of Orleansboro, Pirus Dulath of Bradford, and Mrs George Canting of Cleveland.

Business Change Announced at North Center Street Market

C. S. Wood sold his cash grocery and fish market on North Center Street to D. Murray who took possession yesterday. Wood built a large business across years on First Avenue Main Street and North Center Street. Murray, a well known grocer, will run the store with the same policy of cash sales, delivery for large orders, and newspaper advertising to sustain strong business. A closing quote from Richard I appears oddly in the text.
