VA Hikes Vets' Burial Allowances
The National Cemetery Act raises burial and funeral payment limits for veterans. For deaths after August 1, 1973, a $150 plot or burial allowance is added to the $250 cap. From September 1, funeral expenses up to $800 may be paid for service connected deaths. VA notes prior practice of paying burial costs via funeral directors and transportation for veterans in VA hospitals.
