Twine Imports Should Cover Need
AP reporting that about 6 970 tons of baler and binder twine were imported in June, roughly half the June 1974 level. USDA says twine supplies for the 1975 hay harvest look favorable and adequate to meet expected needs, though prices may be less favorable. A 40 pound bale of baler twine rose from 8 96 in June 1975 to 27 10 a year later and 31 70 last May. Gasoline prices have risen up to 50 percent since the oil boycott but remain lower than in many foreign countries where drivers pay more than twice our price per gallon.
