Ex-Corryite case yields probation for three men

Three New York men, George Yott 25 Ellington Donald Chant 35 Casgadaga and James Learn 68 Conewango Valley, were convicted of rape and received seven years probation and a $300 fine each from Erie County Court Judge William Pratt. They may be turned over to Chautauqua County probation. The victims met in Corry and were later driven to Erie. They were photographed at Ike's Billiards and Restaurant which aided the investigation.

Disease outbreak called over as panel joins search

Federal health officials said the legionnaires disease outbreak linked to the American Legion convention appears finished. A panel of 12 top tissue specialists was formed to study the illness, which killed 26 and hospitalized over 150. Man Wanted On Assault Charge In Oil Creek Township

Oil City resident Joan Swab 29 reported riding as a passenger in a car driven by a suspect on Route 8 at 11 30 p m. The man stopped the vehicle beat her about the head, then returned her to the car and drove to Titusville where she escaped and alerted police. State police expect to arrest the area man on a simple assault charge.
