Erie Objections Filed in $16000 Damage Suit
Erie county court records show City Solicitor Maurice J. Coughlin filed preliminary objections to the $16,000 damage suit by Albert Wheeler against the city of Erie. The city asks the court to strike the complaint for failure to state a claim and argues Wheeler did not allege a provable factual basis for relief. Wheeler contends he is owed a pension related to a 12 day vacation benefit promised when he joined city employment, claiming receipt from 1936 to 1947 but not in 1948.

Babson argues today’s higher standard of living stems from new inventions and processes, not unions alone. He claims wage workers benefit from innovation even without unions and urges government subsidies for inventors and funding to keep corporations from stifling new ideas.
